Brave Museums: About the Qualities Found in the Brave Director

This paper was delivered at Te Papa: The National Museum of New Zealand in 2006.  It explores the qualities found in those directors who break the mold of traditional museums and invent new paradigms.

I have written a number of papers about directors always coming to the conclusion that the director carries more weight, needs more personal courage and vision than we as democratic egalitarians would care to admit.  This is one of those papers.
