Michael Spock: An obituary 2019

This 500-word obituary appeared in the American Alliance of Museums MUSEUM NEWS issue. It was written, as was often the case at the Boston Children’s Museum, by many editors and adders. I provided the framework that many people added to. It felt exactly right writing in that format.

I began working for Michael Spock at the Boston Children’s Museum in 1970 as the head of the public facility and left in 1987 after he had already gone to the Field Museum.  The Boston Children’s Museum remains my touchstone of how a museum should best operate.
