THE IMPORTANCE OF "AND"
The Importance of “And” was included in the edited version of the Museum Education Roundtable PATTERNS IN PRACTICE (which was also the Journal for EdCom the education committee of AAM) (1982, PP. 88-89).
I wrote it about the process of working on the taskforce on museum education that subsequently published the report “Excellence and Equity”.
The taskforce did not understand at the time how important “E&E” would become and how influential in museum director’s thinking subsequently. We were very elated in subsequent years to have been part of the inception of the report.
I liked my title “The importance of And” and wanted it to be my book title but publishers thought no one would understand. “The Importance of And” has remained my most fundamental philosphy.
