Curator From Soloist to Impresario
I was asked by Fiona Cameron and Linda Kelly to write a chapter for the book they were editing in 2010 entitled Hot Topocs, Public Culture, Museums. This chapter attempts to consider the changing role of curators in an age of shared authority and recommends new training for curators so that they become “knowledge managers” rather than “Knowledge Hoarders”. It is not very complimentary to curators I am afraid because I am so eager to establish museums as places that recognize many non-credentialed experts as well as those with academic degrees. A copy of this paper is attached.
