A CIVICALLY-MINDED CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM
In 2010 I was invited to speak at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago under the direction of Madeleine Grynsztejn. It was and remains an experimental art museum offering a diversity of programs and exhibitions that push the edges and is interested in becoming every more welcoming to a wider audience.
The paper I wrote is about my live as an artist but my early unsatisfying experience with art museums, and my current and continuing interest in inviting all to enter for various reasons not all of them necessarily related to art.
The paper is a reasonably good summary of the many threads of my current interest but embedded in the art world.
This paper has never been published elsewhere
