The paper was written for the Australia Museums Conference in response to research presented by Lynda Kelly and Fiona Cameron about audience needs and their desire for and response to exhibitions about controversial subjects. A volume of edited material by these two Australian colleagues will be published in 2010 based on their on-going interested in contested subjects.
