A talk prepared for Alaska Museums Conference
September 2007
I was invited to speak at the Atlaska Museums Conference in 2007. It came after I had delivered “The Blue Ocean Museum” at the ICOM triannual which was a paper about the changing notion of authority caused by the internet and its uses. I urged the museum community to consider what that meant re: their own power. This paper elaborates on that theme and uses some of the final passages of the Blue Ocean paper. I am more and more interested in the foundations of peacebuilding in small ways and the meaning of democracy as seen in the relationship between institutions of authority and their relationship with their audience. This is one of the papers where I begin to explore that issue. A version of my paper is attached.
